Rate Determination and Definitions

Self-use: Scheduling and collecting your own data will be charged at the rates outlined in table 1. This
option is only available after instrument training.
Technical assistance: Additional assistance after training (i.e. sit and collect data with you) the
technician time will be charged in accordance with table 2. Questions, brief assistance are always free
of charge.
Full service: To have lab personnel collect your data for you would be at the equipment hourly rate
(table 1) plus the technical assistance fee (table 2). For XPS due to the level of automation technical
assistance is only charged for the time the technician needs to prep your samples, experimental set up
and any other interaction required to collect or process data, all other hours are billed at the
appropriate equipment hourly rate in table 1.
Training: Billed as equipment hourly rate (table 1) plus the technical assistance fee (table 2).
Post collection data analysis: Billed at the technical assistance rate (table 2) or no charge for
mutually agreed collaborations.
Materials training charge: AFM only (includes an AFM probe, case and sample mounts) $40
